System: AMD64 3000+
OS: SuSE 9.2 64 bit ed.
/ : reiserfs v3.6  (sda1)
swap: (sda2)
/home: reiserfs v3.6 (sda3)

I was doing regular chores - email, xmms, web browsing etc. I shut
down the system with the "poweroff" command.

On reboot, /home would not mount complaining it could not recognize any
file system on /dev/sda3

Using Knoppix 3.8.1 booted w/o any device mounted and tried:

# fsck.reiserfs /dev/sda3

Get the following output:
<quote>
Zero bit found in on-disk bitmap after the last validbit
Checking internal tree
Bad root block 0 (--rebuild-tree did not complete)
Aborted
</quote>

>From the man pages for fsck.reiserfs, debugreiserfs, the error appears
to be fatal. Searched thru the mailing list archives @ www.namesys.com
(Reiserfs site) and did not find any solution there.

I do have a back up of /home but it is about 3 weeks old. I have a
few files and lots of emails that I need to recover. Any
pointers/solutions appreciated.

TIA,
Arun Khan
