Happened with me once, I was able to ping the ips and the dns server was also
alright, even i was able to ping the web sites by name. The onl thing which
was not working was the browser....
This can happen if the kernel does not know how to send the packet to
destination ip, even after it is resolved from the DNS. 
So there are two possible tings you can do - 
(1.) check whether your DNS is ok, by pinging the www.google.com
(2.) If DNS is OK then check the default route, using 'route' command. Check
the line containing the 'default' word under the Destination column and see
if the Gateway column in this line has the right IP address listed.
