1. Try to bottom post.
2. Keep posting on the list so that guru's can also join in.
3. What is /var/log/messages saying? Anything on dmesg? If the network
comes up and you are able to ping other IP's then something is
shutting down the network. Is the driver correct for the network card?

Too many questions to be answered to get to the bottom of this.
