I think I should install

can I install it as I install a package using apt-get ?

will I have to re-install packages to support SMP?

Most apps should work the way they do on smp just as well as they do on
single processor machines .. unless the code is specially optimized to do
well on smp that is.

You can do that apt-get install thing, and it'll install it, create an
initrd image and update grub for you.

Check that the kernel is properly installed, and reboot
