I have had similar problems with Mandrake >=10 in a mixed
environment, i.e., an IDE drive and a SATA drive. This problem did
not seem to exist in Mandrake 9.2. My solution was to upgrade to
Mandriva LE2005 and to have a SATA only setup. So try upgrading.
