It might be that I need to configure grub with the right disk
geometry. Will let you guys know how it went.

BTW, the user running vmware server must belong to a group that has
write permissions to the device. i.e.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ id
uid=1000(schandra) gid=1000(schandra)
groups=4(adm),6(disk),20(dialout),24(cdrom),25(floppy),29(audio),30(dip),44(video),46(plugdev),104(lpadmin),105(scanner),106(admin),1000(schandra)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls -l /dev/hda
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 0 2006-02-14 06:29 hda
