Since you have qmail + ldap at California, if that is your primary MX
record, you could change the mailhost attribute for the Indian users
to look at the India server instead. This is perhaps the way with the
least overhead in terms of effort.

Is there any particular reason you are running a heterogeneous email
solution like this one? It may be a good idea to migrate the India
side to qmail + a replicated ldap environment too. I may be opening a
can of worms here, but that just happens to be my opinion. :)
