It is not AMD64 issue. The issue is most likely with the SiL HDD chip
(SHown as ATI-HDD controller in MoBo specifications. Look up my post
last year around the same time on this. Way out stick a SATA
controller card in a pci slot and thigs start working. These are
available for about 1.2K in Nehru Place.

Another symptop is even if you install a 32bit version the hdparm out
put will show very slow transfer rates.

I did use a SERIAL ATA PCI CARD on my rs480 motherboard. It went undetected.
It was detected and worked fine on another m/c with intel845 chipset.
