pop3 is the post office protocol v3 for remote mail retrieval from a
host
if you are on the same computer through the console or through the
telnet protocol you dont have to use pop3 you just read your mail
file
if hotmail.com have pop3 access you can read mails in outlook express
or etc
they dont give you remote access
means you have to log into their web interface to read mails from
your mailbox
