Let's do this systematically:

- What are the IP addresses of each of the machines involved? Are they all
on the same segment (i.e. 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.10, etc.)?

- after pinging the Windows machines *by IP address* from the Linux box,
what does the command "arp -a" tell you?
