Hi all,

I have been following this list with interest. I'm not a programmer but I am
very interested in the growth of Linux, especially *how* it grows and
spreads and the role of lists and online communities in training and
supporting users.

I have lots of questions, but a couple of things I would like to know are
 the size of this list
other similar lists people are subscribed to
the kinds and sizes of applications people are running using Linux
and basically in a nutshell,
is the world really going to go open-source, especially the less
capitalized parts of the world?

This phenomenon potentially fits into some interesting social science theory
about the dynamics of the international economy using chaos models to
suggest that small leverages in certain "vectors" e.g. means of production,
world labor force (among others) can make big changes in the World System.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Separately, I am interested in receiving submissions of academic articles
about Linux use, case studies, growth rate, uses.....for the below-named
journal.
