Hi ALL!!!!!!
well if hit and trial can be done then i would also like to add some thing :
boot virsuses are of two types
1. static
2. relocatable in memory
somewhere this question came( heavy traffic on inbox, i am daily wage sweeper of
inbox )
that my virus scanner reports of virus, after installation of linux and not
before that
the reply was if quoted correctly that
"because virus scanner compare the standard image with your existing one, as lilo
is sitting over there
hence it reports of virus(MBR)"
usually the viruses do some thing like this :
add an instruction to command.com to jump to itself (means where it is)
execute itself
jump back to command.com
also one more thing there is a register( i don't remember its name ) above which
is kernel/booting
people below which is user mode.
and the virus makers take advantage of that, they write a higher address to this
register and fool the command.com's dos(pity).
may be because the lilo writes its own image first and then bootup, may be this
is the reason viruses do not find place in linux(it cleans all wrong things).
note: i have never written a virus and intend to make first virus killer if that
damn thing enters healthy world of LINUX.
hail penguin.
-gaurav.
