Hi,
I have had some progress with the IrDA Network Neighborhood which will be a
powerful way to use IrDA from Linux. You can take a little peek at:

I'm working on the drag-n-drop stuff, so you will be able to drop files to
your PDA (uses IrOBEX) or drop files to your printer (uses IrLPT) etc, so
this should be interesting.
