Are you absolutely certain that you have data service enabled for your SIM
card? The phone normally doesn't need an init string (I use just ATZ), but
gives ERROR if data communication is disabled.
It usually takes between a few hours and a few days for your provider to
enable data communication (it is a service at their end, since they must
provide the modem functionality).
