I have a Dell Inspiron 7000 and I have got irattach working but I can't
connect to any device (nokia 6210 or Palm Vx).

When I use cu or dip to connect to the modem it doesn't respond.

When I use pilot-xfer to connect to the Palm the connection times out on
the palm

Here are the outputs of the usual commands:-

sabre:~ # cat /proc/net/irda/discovery
IrLMP: Discovery log:

sabre:~ # setserial -g /dev/ttyS1
/dev/ttyS1, UART: 16550A, Port: 0x02f8, IRQ: 0

I am slightly concerned that the setserial says that the IRQ is 0 while
my BIOS says it is IRQ3. But I guess the fact that irattach works means
that the serial config is ok. I have tried changing the IRQ to 3 using
setserial but then irattach doesn't work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Robert
