Start by clearing up a few things
Linux 7.1 can mean any of the distributions that at one time or another reached version 7.1, is it redhat, mandrake or something else?
What have you done so far?
What documentation have you already read?
Kernel version?
What kind of laptop?

I think those are the basic pieces of information you should always supply when asking for help in linuxrelated matters.

Subject: [Linux-IrDA]IR Problem with Linux 7.1

Hello everyone.

I am having a problem with my linux laptop and my infrared port.  I would like to set up the laptop to print to my Canon BJC-85 printer.  I know both the printer and the laptop infrared ports work fine because they both work in windoze.  I was wondering what i had to do to get it to print in linux.  thanks
