Hi,
I am trying out the irda utils with kernel 2.4.4(freshly downloaded and
compiled and with zero impurities) on an AMD Elan board which has 2 IR
ports.

I could set the port values using setserial but am not able to load any of
the irda utils, including irda.I have the major number set correctly -
161.

"$insmod irda" or any of the others fail with Unresolved Symbols Errors.
(some of these symbols were create_proc_entry_Rsmp... etc).

Hence "$irattach /dev/ttyS1 -s" fails with(/var/log/messages) :
modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-23
insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.4/kernel/net/irda/irda.o : insmod tty-ldisc-11
failed.
irattach: tty: set_disc(11): Bad file descriptor
obviously from establish_irda().

I have been following this mailing list and came to know of some sync to
be done with ACs kernel lines.Does this apply to general users too(other
than developers)?

I could get a patch,namely patch-2.4.1-pre8-irda1 for the 2.4.1 kernel
from irda.sourceforge.net.Could someone point out a place where I could
get subsequent patches for newer kernels?

Are there any other patches to be applied to a newly compiled 2.4.4 kernel
in order to get irda up and working?Has anyone tried this out afresh?Does
this work when freshly compiled?

TIA,

                                Anand
