If you look in your WinME Device Manager, find the device with I/O 0x2F8
and 0x110. The DMA appears to be 1, and the IRQ appears to be 11. But
you'll know for sure if you find the device in the WinME Device Manager.

That's right. The IR device (the SMSC47n227) is behind the ISA bridge.

No. You don't have a Toshiba Type 'O' IrDA chip, you've got the
SMSC LPC47n227 chip.

Grab the portdump program from my message back in October (I think)
about Toshbia Satellite Pro 4600 (SMSC LPC47n227) and that'll give
you a clue about what might need to be done.

> - could it be better have serial as a module?

I don't think so. Serial in the kernel means it won't find your
IrDA chip if it's not configured by the BIOS before boot. Which is
prolly a good thing, since it leaves it free for you to configure.

> Am I wrong somewhere? Do I have a chance to use IR with nokia 8210?

Maybe. I'm just getting the data sheets for the ALi chipset in this
laptop. Once I have 'em I might be able to help more.

Of course Pacman didn't influence us as kids. If it did,
we'd be running around in darkened rooms, popping pills and
listening to repetitive music.
