Hello,
I'm having a load of fun (Not) trying to get this
chipset to work.
Its running an advent 5480DVD laptop and I have not
even managed to get Me to talk to my Ir phone (Nokia 8210).
The laptop has been been back for repair (No fault
found) and so I am trying linux.
The bios will only support changing between IrDA
(full/half duplex) and FIR using DMA, however there is no way of
changing/viewing ports or interrupts.
Findchip exits with no output,and I cannot see
anything in the logs anywhere.
Dmesg�grep tty reports 2 ports (ttyS00 and S02
using irqs 3 and 4 respectively)
I can load the Irda module ok But Irdadump just
sits there till I Ctrl-c it whereupon it says no packets received.
I know the phone works because I wasd able to use
it with my old Toshiba laptop at home,Unfortunately that is now 4000 miles
away.
I would really appreciate some guidance here from
anyone who has managed to get this chipset to work.
