Hi,

laptop swap and IrDA problem as usual!!! :-(((

Well, my new laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8100... Soooooooo cool :-)))

But... IrDA not work. Well, it work under Windows 2000, so the port is ok
and stuff, but I'm unable to make the slow SIR driver working under Linux
(never think to try the FIR driver :-((((((((((( )

Is the serial driver related with the IrDA chipset of my notebook? On this
machine, Findchip report nothing (I do "findchip -v" and the system reply
nothing, just a blank line).

To be honest, if I irattach /dev/ttyS1 -s the system load the device Irda0,
but the discovery name of this device is always Dell (the name of my
computer). I can use ifconfig Irda0 up or down, I can Ping the device Irda0
and also do a Irdadump, but I don't know what I ping :-((((((

Ircomm not load, also if I had put the correct stement on Modules.conf and
stuff. Obviously my cell phone is in front of the IrDA dongle as usual.

Irda-Utils are 0.9.14 precompiled with my Mandrake 8.1 distro and kernel is
default kernel with all the IrDA stuff modularized...

Any idea?

Massimo

PS: whats the last irda-utils? On soundforge there is still 0.9.13. The site
seems very outdated and the the new HOWTO at mobilix.org not point at any
new location.

About the new HOWTO: I think it is pretty mean, very obviously, no hint at
all! I used to prefer the old documents.
