I saw this forum on the net about
Linux,
I have some doubts on how to configure and
install Linux on a Toshiba 4600.
My name is Christy Lynn and I am a Grad student
(first year!)
I never worked with Linux or Unix before and
finding very difficult
to understand how to handle those configuration
files (where they
are, how to find them and finally how to
alter)
I am using a Mandrake 7.1 version of
Linux, fighting and trying
to make modem, video (in 1024x768) , sound to
work...but the efforts
rendered useless because I am completely in the
dark to make any alterations.
The Toshiba T4600 is a rather old
computer... with a
an internal screen that only
supports 640x480 in 256 colours. The external Video
port supports 1024x768 in 16
colours.
I don't know about the sound.
1) Could you explain me plainly
(layman's way) how to?
Another very doubt
of mine is how to make W98 and W2K coexist
with Linux, could you give me a step by step
procedure for
the instalation or some
tips.
2) Is it possible to have (in the same HD)
partitions using FAT32 and
NTFS?
3) If is not much could anyone
forward me attached any drives for
Toshiba Satellite 4600?
Especially have a look at
Marius
