Thanks for your answer. I'd like to outline my problem a bit more clearly:

I'm able to connect to my palm from linux. I can get a list of all installed
software from my palm via irda using pilot-xfer -l. But I'm not able to
synchronize kpilot (or any other linux software) with my palm. As soon as it
tries to synchronize the addressDB from the palm it stops the data transfer.
Since irobex is the protocol to transport the data objects, I seem to be
missing this support. I assume it is a kernel module (somewhere in the irda
stack), right?
I've downloaded the openobex stuff but this library hasn't helped at all.
