M700 with RedHat 7.2 and 7.2.93 here, Ericsson T39 phone. Kernel is
2.4.19-pre7-ac2 right now, and has worked reliably since 2.4.19-pre5

On my lapdog the modules probes for chips nicely on their own.

Getting reliable 115200bps here, even with the odd "NETDEV"-message.

I don't use irattach, try dropping it?
