Hi! I have the notebook mentioned in the subject and want to enable Irda-support for linux. After playing arround with different drivers and reading the howto and the mail archive i'm completly confused.
The sir description from the howto doesnt work, because the kernel reported only ttyS0 for the normal serial port. In the bios setup there are no options to enable infrared. The toshoboe driver says after modprobe toshoboe : no such device. The page (http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de/main/) from toshiba tells me that i have following device " IrDA : Toshiba IrDA1.1 4M (PCI)". The descriptions provieded there doesn't work, they all use toshoboe. In severals mail it is mentioned that Toshiba uses an another chipset: sharp uircc. The module uircc.c doesn't exists in my kernel sources (2.4.16). cat /proc/pci reports the following devices: PCI devices found: Bus 0, device 0, function 0: Class 0600: PCI device 1179:0601 (rev 38). Bus 0, device 4, function 0: Class 0300: PCI device 102c:00e4 (rev 194). Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfe000000 [0xfeffffff]. Bus 0, device 11, function 0: Class 0c03: PCI device 1033:0035 (rev 1). IRQ 11. Master Capable. Latency=16. Min Gnt=1.Max Lat=21. Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfdfff000 [0xfdffffff]. The last two are the usb and the graphics controller. So the first should be the irda device. In donauboe there are two different pci device id's defined: 0d01 and 0701. Could it be that they are compatible to the device above 0601 ? Under Win98 the irda works, but i cant get resource information from the device manager about the irda device. The system info utility says following to the device: [DMA] .... 7 Toshiba FIR Anschlusstyp-U [E/A] ... x02F8 - x02FF Toshiba FIR Anschlusstyp-U [IRQs] ... 10 Toshiba FIR Anschlusstyp-U Anyone some ideas to complete my confusion ?
