I am having trouble getting a good IrDA link between the embedded Linux machine we are developing and a Sharp Zaurus SL-5000 PDA. I do get a good connection occasionally but not reliably. I am only trying for SIR. To my knowledge, neither machine supports FIR.
I have been following the mailing list for a while and read the Howto/FAQs so I believe I have included the necessary information. Machine 1: Off-the-shelf single board computer with Pentium-class National Instruments Geode processor at 300 MHz# uname -a Linux grumpy 2.4.16 #2 Fri Apr 19 11:21:42 EDT 2002 i586 unknown Machine 2: Sharp Zaurus SL-5000 PDA with Intel StrongARM-1110 #uname -a Linux localhost 2.4.6-rmk1-np2-embedix #2 2002ǯ 318() 1208ʬ09 JST armv4l unknown (Not sure what the trash characters are, I assume they are Japanese that did not get processed properly.) I read that Jean does not want to hear about anything lower than 2.4.16 but upgrading the kernel on the PDA is something we would like to avoid since we want to put these PDAs in the customer's hands. IrDA is started on Machine 1 (device) by: # irattach /dev/ttyS3 IrDA is started on Machine 2 (PDA) by: # irattach /dev/ttyS2 Below is an irdadump of the negotiation. When it fails it always is "72 packets received by filter". Any help would be appreciated.
