I doubt I will have enought time and knowledge for that, also I would be
interesting to do that. Never the less I've downloaded yesterday the
2.3.31 kernel sources and got it running, and I had also a short closer
look at the irattach code. 

Is there any information around about the practical changes, when
irmanager is gone (how are the things irmanager did devided up between
kernel and irattach, what is still missing, who is executing the
/etc/irda/* scripts, if at all?). I expect, this has somehow been
discussed on the linux-irda mailinglist, but I haven't followed the
discussion on the list for a very long time, so it's a bit clumsy for me
to search the whole archive, can anybody give me a hint to a starting
thread on that. Any other link to some information would be appreciated,
too.
