Please ignore my previous posting. I had forgotten that I'd inserted a netcard
which decided to conflict IRQ-wise with my IR-port. Reading the FAQ-part of the
otherwise outdated HOWTO yielded a clue.

I'll go think up a real nasty punishment for myself for not thinking/reading
that before asking.
