hi,

i didn't use the irda before, just changed the distro
on my Fujitsu B110 and decided to try out the irda.
so, i browsed the docs, i followed the howtos.
i just compiled kernel-2.2.14.
i changed slightly the defaults of debian, now i have these:

dmesg:
ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
ttyS03 at 0x02e8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A

i loaded these modules:
irtty 4772 0
ircomm_tty 17644 0 (unused)
ircomm 18104 0 [ircomm_tty]
irda 126081 1 [irtty ircomm_tty ircomm]

i have these devices:
1$ ll /dev/ir*
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 161, 0 Mar 24 14:08 /dev/ircomm0
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 161, 1 Mar 24 14:33 /dev/ircomm1
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 161, 10 Mar 24 14:08 /dev/irlpt0
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            7 Mar 24 14:34 /dev/irnine ->
ircomm0

1$ cat /proc/net/irda/*
IrLMP: Discovery log:

lsap state: LSAP_DISCONNECTED, slsap_sel: 0x0, dlsap_sel: 0xff, (IrIAS
srv)

Registred Link Layers:

1$ cat /proc/sys/net/irda/*

bilbo

80

irmanager is running, but "irattach /dev/ttyS3" says:

Mar 24 14:35:41 bilbo irattach: Are you using an old kernel?
Mar 24 14:35:41 bilbo irattach: executing: 'echo bilbo >
/proc/sys/net/irda/devname'
Mar 24 14:35:51 bilbo irattach: got SIGTERM or SIGINT
Mar 24 14:35:51 bilbo modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module /dev/ttyS3
Mar 24 14:35:51 bilbo irattach: exiting ...

so, am i using an old kernel? what should i do?

btw, anyone tried Nokia 8210 connection? most probably it's the stupid
version of nokia phones, but i hope gnokii would work thru irda too.
