Just make sure you don't connect to a 4Mbps capable device. That will crash your 
machine. It's easy for you
to comment out the higher speeds (>115200bps) in smc-ircc.c to avoid this happening. 
I've got more info
from SMC, so hopefully I will soon have time to finish the SMC driver so it's stable 
as 4Mbps as well.
