Okay,
I've tried out the patch and everything comes up just fine. I'm able to
establish a LAP connection with a Palm Pilot, just as I could before. The server
application (that horribly ugly one that I've ported from a w2k example) is able
to create an IAS service using the setsockopt(). Furthermore, when the
application ends, the service is automagically removed from action. Cool. For
others out there debugging IrDA code, don't forget to look at the /proc/net/irda
directory. In there you'll find live up-to-date info about the IrDA stack.
I've obviously not looked at all of the details with this latest patch. However,
I've got one item that may be of interest. I rebuilt irda-utils-0.9.10 and ran
irdadump. It seems to work just fine. However, there appears to be a
mis-terminated string that's being printed - I don't know the source of this
(e.g. kernel code or irdadump). I've never seen this behavior in the 10
months I've used irdadump. Here's the offending section

Since the text is not printable, I just copied the `garbage' from the screen to
an emacs buffer. Here's that same section again with the buffer in hexl-mode.
