Yes, there is support for compression. They still call it 'under
development', so installation will not be easy if you're not
source-code-savvy. I just installed it myself and it works great.
Below is the basic idea of what I did:
- Upgrade to 2.2.3 kernel.
- get the latest isdn-99*.tar.gz and isdn4k-utils-99* from
ftp.suse.com/pub/isdn4linux
- install and compile the lot
- compile the isdn_lzscomp.o in the isdn-99*.tar.gz package
- add/modify your isdn setup scripts:
/sbin/insmod isdn_lzscomp.o comp=7 debug=2 tweak=0x7
(tweak=0x7 is said to be needed for ascend, and I believe my peer is ascend)
/sbin/ipppd /dev/ippp0 defaultroute lzs 1:4
