Ask in your isp's news forum. That's probably the best way to get an answer
and to get some help comfiguring your system. Ypu can always email your isp
for information.

Afaik compression is negotiated when you connect to your isp.

As opposed to analog modems (V90 and so) isdn compression is done by
software instead of hardware in the modem. Compression rates can be up to
3-4 times, with html and so. When downloading zip files, you offcourse
won't see any speed increase. Common compression protocol name is Stac.
