I have had a similar situation with my Compaq Armada7730MT but the bad guy
was Win95. When I noticed that none of the two power keys were /hard/ I
started trying some key combinations because I thought there MUST be a way
to power it down. I found out that pressing the standby button together
with the "turn-off-the-closed-display-switch" does it. Your notebook could
also have such a combination. Just try :-).
