Suspending and resuming the machine seems to disable recording operations.
To get around this problem, try unloading the oss modules (with soundoff)
and loading them again (using soundon). Recording from the microphone
should work at this time, as long as you have the microphone set to be the
recording source as opposed to Line_in/CD/FM....etc
