Hello!

I have Redhat 5.2 installed on my NEC Versa 2000C. It took me way too long
to figure out how to install via FTP (but that was mainly my fault), but I
got it done and I've got it up and running.

Now I wanted to copy some files to the notebook and the network wasn't handy.
No problem, right? Just mount a floppy and copy it; and that's what I tried
to do. The problem is, though, mount would tell me that /dev/fd0 was not a
valid device.

What? How could that be? So, I rebooted and watched the startup process
carefully. (BTW: How can you see the startup messages after startup?) I
noticed that it complained that the floppy controller couldn't be found.
What do I do about this? I can't really change the hardware: it's a
notebook. Is there a LILO parameter or some other configuration change I
need to make?

Thanks for the help. Other than the floppy problem I haven't had any other
problems. I haven't checked on power management, etc., but seeing as my
battery died and I don't have $120 to replace it, I just use it on AC power.
