> Just following up on my earlier request for information on switching between the LCD and an external monitor. I tried out the laptop server from Xig. It enables me to switch between a flicker free external screen (with a refresh rate of 75 Hz) and the LCD screen. If the LCD and external monitor are on simultaneously, then I get the 60 Hz flickering screen but I never work in a mode where I need BOTH the LCD screen and the external monitor....so this is fine. The only catch is that you have to switch to a virtual terminal using CTRL+ALT+Fx before you can suspend the machine. Suspending the machine while under X doesnt work. I can ofcourse recover X after suspend, using CTRL+ALT+F7. This is a mild cost considering the flicker free external screen that I now enjoy. Xig support tells me that they intend to fix this in later versions of the server (of course by then XFree86 might support the external monitor at 75 Hz....) Cheers, DS > D.
