Hello Tony,

I remember, I had exactly same troubles with X on Toshiba 510CDT with same C&T
(65555). My impression is it is because X server tries to find better mode,
and this found mode is wrong. As far as I remember, there is a need to play
with Modeline, and directly refer to particular one.

For example, in my XF86Config I use the folowing:

Section "Monitor"
...
# 800x600 @ 100 Hz, 64.02 kHz hsync
Modeline "800x600E" 69.65 800 864 928 1088 600 604 610 640 -HSync
-VSync

Section "Screen"
        Subsection "Display"
        ...
        Modes "800x600E"

I also turned on the following option in Section "Device" to provide picture
is ok:

 Option "use_vclk1"

Briefly, I would recommend to try find out the right modeline, title it with
some particular name, and refer to this name in screen section. This will
require some amount of efforts. I can send you my XF86Config, but I am not
sure it will fit (your notebook has dual-scan screen, right?).

Good luck,
Maxim
