George,

The author of the pcmcia package prefers to keep his code separate,
and I'm certainly not going to complain because it has always worked
well for me.

Go here: ftp://hyper.stanford.edu/pub/pcmcia/ and get the lastest
version of the pcmcia package.

Compile and install it.  You will need the kernel sources on your
system.  Look in /etc/pcmcia.  You may need to modify the *.opts
files.  You need to put the data particular to your IP address, etc in
network.opts.  I also needed to block an IRQ in config.opts for my
Toshiba 740 so that sound would work right.
