PCMCIA isn't included with the kernel, and isn't configured with it, it is a
separate package. If your linux distribution didn't include it you'll need to
download and compile it yourself.
There is information about it in the "Documentation" folder that comes with the
kernel source. Check the "Changes" document in that folder, it will have a url
to use to find and download PCMCIA.
There will be some info at www.linux.org.
