Thanks to everyone for your help. I got the PCMCIA
drivers to work while flying between California and
Texas, by re-reading David Hinds PCMCIA-HOWTO docs.

I found an entry in a file, mentioned in the above
doc (perhaps either in /etc/pcmcia/* or /dev/pcmcia/*)
{I'm sitting in front of an SGI O2 at the momemt} that
was set to pcmcia=no (even though I had built a working set of drivers and utilities
:-).

As soon as I set it to pcmcia=yes and rebooted the
pcmcia drivers loaded at boot time, and it even mentioned my Adaptec SCSI controller
by name. I
can't wait to get home and test it with my SCSI tape drive and my Ethernet hub.

Next step is to get PPP working. Is that difficult?

Regards, David
