I don't know about your specific machine, but I upgraded an older laptop
that was a toshiba clone in a similar manner and had no problems at all.
Just be sure that you have everything you want to keep backed up and
that all of you other installation software is ok. My old LT is still
running like a champ and I did not notice any problems with additional
heat.
