Would someone help me, please? I have never had a problem with my 3Com 3C562D PCMCIA card, in many, many months of use, until I tried to use a 2.2 kernel. Even the latest one. I can use the machine normally, except for the modem part of the card (ethernet still works fine). When PPP starts up, it quickly fails: May 18 21:33:27 localhost kernel: PPP: version 2.3.7 (demand dialling) May 18 21:33:27 localhost kernel: PPP line discipline registered. May 18 21:33:27 localhost kernel: registered device ppp0 May 18 21:33:27 localhost pppd[291]: pppd 2.3.8 started by root, uid 0 May 18 21:33:28 localhost chat[293]: Can't get terminal parameters: Input/output error May 18 21:33:28 localhost pppd[291]: Connect script failed May 18 21:33:29 localhost pppd[291]: Exit. Note that the first line says 2.3.7 and the fourth line says 2.3.8. At boot-up, I see: eth0: 3Com 3c562, port 0x300, irq 3, Auto port, hw_addr 00:60:97:EE:3D:10 tty01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A Note that here it is called tty01. In the PPP stuff, it is called ttyS1, which is what I thought was correct and what worked under 2.0 kernels. I hope someone can help me put this problem behind me and be able to start using 2.2.
