Hello Richard,

thanks for the documentation on configuring the HP 4150 with
linux on it.
http://www.m20.net/~tango/linux/ob4150install.html

I try to run linux on the following hardware:
  OmniBook 4150
cpu: Intel Mobile Pentium II 366 MHz
  grafic: NeoMagic MagicGraph NM2200 (NMG5)
  audio: NeoMagic Audio MNA2
  cardbus: TI PCI 1220A
  keyboard controler: National PC87570

  128MB memory in one slot
  10.1 GB hard disk
  DVD 2x

I first installed SuSE Linux 6.0, booting from CD-ROM.
I had to specifie the disk geometry at the boot prompt:
linux hda=19485,16,63 to get 10 GB detected
Lilo had to be configured with "linear" as option.
X had to be configured with XF86Setup (SuSE SAX didn't work):
  Mouse: - Logitech PS/2 - 3 Button
  Keyboard:- generic 104 - GERMAN
  Card:- NeoMagic - chipsatz: NM2200 - Memory: 2MB
  Monitor:- h: 31.5-57 - v: 50-90
  Resolution:- 1024 x 760 - 16 bbt
XIRCOM RealPort CardBus didn't work, I changed to
XIRCOM RealPort CEM56 Ethernet/Modem, which works fine for now.

I then upgraded to SuSE 6.1 with Kernel 2.2.5 and
XFree86 3.3.3.1
Installation from bootable CD was no problem, I still specifiy
the disk geometry with lilo.conf, don't know if this is
still needed. Same with option "linear".
X configuration now runs out of the box with SuSE SAX.
I run KDE and KDM and do really like my little Lap ;-)

For sound support I configured conf.modules the following:
> alias char-major-14 sb
> post-install sb /sbin/modprobe "-k" "adlib_card"
> options sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma16=0 mpu_io=0x530
> options adlib_card io=0x388
I now can play audio CD with "kscd" but no other sound
seems to work !!
APMD causes segmentation faults, I disabled APM in Bios
after some problems.

What I really do enjoy is running vmware for linux 1.0 !
My virtuel NT4.0 is quite fine ;-)
Syncing with Palm Software under NT has some more features
than using kpilot. But running both OS on one lap,
this is no problem ;-)

BUT NOW FOR SOME QUESTIONS:
- APM : APM is not in the kernel shipped by SuSE, I
build my own kernel, but it did cause some problems.
How to configure it the right way?
        What BIOS settings to use?
- sound: what am I doing wrong?
- IR : anybody tried infra red? Syncing with PalmPilot?

Thanks for every hint !

Greetings,
    Eckehard.
