I've got a bit of recent practise at this. The left/right bit is a
function of the dac speed, the number of dots, and the refresh or
vertical speed. There's no buffers there, so the dac has to give out
info at the speed your dots are required on screen. You can't usually
do much about the dac settings.  If you have a blank bit on the left,
and are doubled over on the right, the information is late, so slow
things up. If you are shifted left, the info is early. If you slow
the Horizontal frequency, that will mean youi'll have to slow the
vertical as well. Use the best setup program you can get. I have Suse
and can use SAX. XF86Setup is on most distributions. You'll get there.
