Video support on Micron laptops

My brother just handed down his old Micron Transport VLX laptop to me.
I have RH6 running on it nicely but the graphics are really quite bad.
I am wondering if anyone out there is using a similar machine on linux
and whether they know of a way to squeeze out all the performance (in
terms of better graphics...) of the display?? Is there a patch for this
somewhere??

I have asked Micron for help but they are taking their own sweet
time....
