Insertion of Ray link pcmcia card freezes system

When I insert my ray link pcmcia card, the system freezes.  When I remove it I
can type etc (it unfreezes) and I get the following error message:

        cs: unable to map card memory!
        cs unable to map card memory!
        memory_cs: RequestWindow: Resource in use

I only have the one card.  My system is:

ThinkPad 755CD (40megs of ram)
Debian 2.1
2.2.12 kernel
ray_cs-1.62
pcmcia-cs 3.0.5
