Hello,

I have Debian GNU/Linux 2.1 on a Ibm Thinkpad 380D
I am trying to install netscape 4.6
I installed manually, and also by using the netscape4.deb package which is
installing the tar.gz file located in /tmp (the tar file is from netscape
ftp site: communicator-v46-export.x86-unknown-linux2.0.tar.gz)

I get the error message
can't load libXpm.so.4

I have got the following package installed
xpm4g
xpm-bin
xpm4g-dev
I also have all the libc glibc or whatever which seems to be needed.

I searched in /etc/ld.conf and I have the line with /usr/X11R6/lib so the
path seems to be OK
Please noticed that the message says can't load, not can't access ...

If I had (Bash)
>LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/X11R6/lib
>export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

I have
>netscape&
>Segmentation fault

I am logged as root when trying to launch Netscape !

The file /usr/lib/X11R6/libXpm.so.4 is a link to
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4.10
The right on libXpm.so.4.10 are rwxr-xr-x and was at first r-xr--r--

I am searching this for now 1 mounth, and asked to anybody who could know
... no success.

Any clue ?

Thanks
Fred
