Winmodems

Has anyone tried getting sufficient technical information on a winmodem
so that a linux driver could be written.  I have a ThinkPad 390X with a
Lucent winmodem.  If someone has obtained such information and is
working on a driver, I would be interested in helping out if you are
interested.

I will try and get some technical information from IBM if need be.  If
any one has some hints about how to obtaining such information I would
be interested in hearing about them.
