Any Asus 7400 serie users ? Just to know if the hardware is really
   well supported :o)

Yes, I use an Asus 7400 (P2/300) and am very happy with the machine.
I've had it for about eight months. You should be aware of the
following limitations:

1. The internal modem is a Winmodem, which is useless under Linux.
You will need a PCMCIA modem. At the time I got the system, the
internal modems came as a standard feature on US models, and were not
available elsewhere, so I got stuck with an unusable modem. This may
have changed.

2. The sound card is ESS Maestro 2. When I got the system, there was
no free driver available, but a commercial version was available from
opensound.com (their driver costs $20 for most chips, $30 for this
one). I just checked again at http://www.linux.org.uk/OSS/ and found
that this chip is supported in the free driver from 2.2.14 onwards.

3. The video chipset (ATI Rage Pro LT) was not supported by XFree
when I got the system either. I set my video mode on bootup and use
the XFBDev server with good results. I understand that the latest
release of XFree supports this chip properly but haven't tried it yet.
