Hello Tom,

sorry I can't really help on the IBM specific stuff, however, if you can
physically access to the hard drive, you may remove it, plug a
2.5 inches to 3.5 inches adapter and use your hard disk
on a desktop computer, and then remove your hibernation file.

Of course, if you want to get rid of your notebook as a (cheap second hand)
paperweight, just let me know :-)
